If not enough people join your job...

Post by tanyaxshort on Sun Aug 16, 2015 4:19 pm

Do you just waste that day, or are you 'stuck' there until someone joins? Am I allowed to change jobs? Should I delete my old "doing this job" post if I move to a new job?

Or do I eventually get joined by nameless nobody NPCs?

I'm pretty sure you have committed your work for the day when you choose to do a job. I don't think we should be able to delete posts and switch jobs.

Think of it more... asynchronously, for now. It's not a perfect system, I will admit!

Your job needs two works to complete, but it doesn't matter when or who does them.

So you can work at the job today to finish the job (climb the tree twice) or if someone else does the job in a week's time that'll finish the job too.

I'm open to suggestions about alternate ways for jobs to work, but it's got to function in a forum setting...

(maybe the problem is a lot smaller: the 'look around from a treetop' job should have only been a JOB-1?)

I'm still not completely clear on how it works.

So... for example:

* I post that I'm joining a job
* There is no response, or there aren't enough people to meet the prerequisite
* The next day, can I join a different job, while I'm waiting for the past day's choice to resolve, or would that "remove" my work from the previous job?

You pick 1 job per day to work for that day. Some jobs will be finished in a day or less because of the number of people helping, and some jobs will take many days to work.

You can also work the same job over multiple days. Here is an example:

A [JOB - 3] is worked by you and 1 person on day 1.
The next day, you can work that job again to complete it because the number 3 was satisfied.

Does that help?

Oh okay, I understand. It seems slightly strange for some kinds of work vs others -- it feels like some should be more time-limited or "simultaneous" requirement or something? Like... if the reason you need 2 people to climb a tree is for the companionship, me climbing it today and then climbing it again tomorrow wouldn't accomplish that goal... and neither would me climbing today and you climbing it tomorrow!
